Hampton, part 1

A bunch of light and very sketchy gesture drawings

I have started a new book for learning figure drawing. It is Figure Drawing: Design and Invention by Michael Hampton. (The link is to an earlier printing, but I’m sure it’s close enough to follow along, if you were so inclined.) I remember learning about Hampton from a Proko YouTube video and being impressed with his clarity. Since I stopped doing the Love Life Drawing course, I’ve been missing the more formal aspect of training. I’m hoping to improve at drawing figures from imagination, and this book’s flow through gesture into anatomy feels like a good fit for how my mind organizes things.

These drawings are from me following along from pages 8 – 17. There’s likely to be a lot of these posts going up in the next few months! I hope they show progress as I go along.
